Top Ten Baby Names
Today, many people are choosing non-traditional names for their children. But, some people still like to chose a name that is more easily identifiable. If you are pregnant, you may want to know what names appear on the baby names lists. Of course, these names change each year, but some names have been in the top ten for years. For 2006, Matthew is ranked number four in the top ten baby names. But, Matthew was ranked number three in the top ten baby names for boys for the decade of the 1990s.
This year, Emily ranks number one in the top ten baby names for girls. Like Matthew, Emily was ranked number three in the top ten baby names for girls for the 1990s decade. So, it appears that both names have raised in popularity.
Amazingly, one boy name has remained in the top ten baby names for the past five decades. It seems that Michael has been and continues to be a popular choice for a boy’s names. Mary was number one in the top ten baby names for girls for five decades before it began to slide down the list and eventually disappeared off the top ten girl’s names in the 1970s.
Some popular names continue to appear on top ten baby names lists over the years, while some disappear completely from the top ten. However, remember that just because a name falls from the top ten, it doesn’t mean it cannot be a great name to choose for your baby.
